PETITION ADD AND UPDATE

FUNCTION: This transaction is used to add or update a Juvenile Court Petition. There are four basic options:

A. To add a petition.
B. To update an existing petition.
C. To link an existing petition to an arrest.
D. To remove the link between an existing petition and an arrest.

Each option is requested from the County Clerk Menu as described below:

A. To add a petition:

1. Key the transaction Code CC01.
2. Key the JAIN.
3. Key the Arrest Date (MMDDYY). (Optional.)
4. Press the ENTER key.

B. To update an existing petition:

1. Key the transaction code CC01.
2. Key the JAIN.
3. Key the Court#.
4. Key the Pet Date.
5. Press the ENTER key.

C. To link an existing petition to an arrest:

1. Key the transaction code CC01.

5. Key the word REMOVE in the Arrest Dt field.
6. Press the ENTER key.

The response will be the CC01 mask. The first line contains the JAIN, name, sex, descent and date of birth. User must verify that the JAIN and name match the petition to be entered. If the arrest date was entered on CCMU, the second line of information will be the arrest date and agency and file or booking number. When the juvenile has more than one arrest on the same date, there will be more than one CC01. A message at the bottom of the screen instructs the user to view additional information by pressing the PA1 key. The user must then use the name of the agency and the file or booking number to make the correct selection.

When the juvenile has a currently active court number, PDJ number, or office, that information will be displayed.

*These fields cannot be changed if Crt Date is more than 10 days past.

If a required field is omitted, CC01 will be redisplayed with two highlighted asterisks (**) in the missing field. If the incorrect data is entered, CC01 will be redisplayed with the incorrect field(s) highlighted. Key correct data and press ENTER key.

Optional fields may be deleted by keying a minus sign (-) directly under the first position displayed. Changes are made by keying new information directly below existing information. A Pet Dt and Crt# cannot be changed. To correct an incorrect petition date or Crt#, the petition must be deleted and a new CC01 and CC05s performed.

A petition may be deleted by entering the word DELETE in the Pet Dt field. Related CC02, CC05s, CC07s and CC08s will also be deleted. (Current conditions of probation and the Crt Dsp in JINQ are not affected by a CC01 deletion.)

If a petition is being re-filed, first delete count information on CC02. Then on CCMU remove the link between the petition and the arrest. This clears the way for the new Pet Dt to be linked to the arrest.

Upon successful completion of the CC01 linked to an arrest, whether requested as an add or update, the CC02 mask will be displayed. When CC01 is requested as an add and not linked to an arrest, the completion message will be displayed on CCMU with the TXN CC01. When CC01 is requested as an update and not linked to an arrest the completion message will be displayed on CCMU with the TXN CC01, JAIN and Court#.
