PINQ

PROBATION/DCFS INQUIRY

FUNCTION: This transaction displays identifying characteristic data, active and historical Probation and DCFS information, and alias data currently on file for a specified juvenile. This transaction is also displays movement of the PDJ file.

The PINQ screen is displayed through four options:

A. Through the JAI MENU
B. Through the JAIN mask
C. Through the JNAM response mask
D. Through the JNUM transaction

Following are the procedures for using the options:

1. Key an "X" in front of the desired JAIN
2. Press the PF7 key.

D. Through JNUM:

1. Key the number type

3. Press the PF7 key

The first screen contains active and historical Probation/DCFS information.

If there is more information available, a message at the bottom of the screen will indicate whether it is additional historical Probation/DCFS or alias information. The operator may then "page" through this data by pressing the PA1 or Page Up key until the "End of Available Information" message appears. At any time, the operator may press the ENTER key to display the JAIN mask without viewing all pages of PINQ.

Data Element Name

Explanation

   

JAIN

Juvenile Automated Index Number a unique identification number assigned to a juvenile upon entry into JAI. Using this number with a transaction code is the most direct way to retrieve information for a juvenile.

   

Page

The page number of PINQ screen.

   

Last

The last name of the juvenile.

   

First

The first name of the juvenile.

   

Middle

The middle name of the juvenile.

   

SF

Suffix of the juvenile.

   

True

True name indicator. It is not used at this time; "NO" appears.

   

Sex

Sex of the juvenile: M or F.

   

Descent

Descent code is an NCIC code.

   

Hair

Hair color of the juvenile.

   

Eyes

Eye color of the juvenile.

   

Height

Height of the juvenile.

   

Weight

Weight of the juvenile.

   

DOBS

Dates of birth; a maximum of four will appear. The DOB in the first field appears on additional JAI formats.

   

Mother's Name

First name only of natural mother.

   

Active Office

Shows PROB (for Probation) or DCFS (for Department of Children's and Family Services) followed by the descriptive name of the office where the case is being handled.

   

Active PDJ#

Probation Department's active juvenile case number.

   

Active Court#

Juvenile Court active case number, whether from Delinquency or Dependency court.

   

Active DCFS#

State number for the whole family.

   

Caseload#

Identifying number of the Probation Officer or Dependency Worker responsible for the case.

   

Legal Status

A section of the Welfare and Institutions Code specifying jurisdiction.

   

PROB/DCS Status

Supervision status of a juvenile case with the Probation Department or the Department of Children and Family Services; this may also be the current court disposition.

   

INDICATORS:

Pertain to the juvenile only when containing information as indicated below:

   
 

CYA- The date of court commitment to the California Youth Authority.

   
 

UNFIT The date the court declared the minor unfit for juvenile supervision.

   
 

CDP - The date the minor was placed under supervision in the Community Day Program.

   
 

IEP - The Individual Education Plan for minor committed to the California Youth Authority. Y = Yes; N = No; U = Unknown

   

ZIP

The ZIP Code of the juvenile's home address.

   

WIC Indicator

A section of the Welfare & Institutions Code (300 for Dependency; 601 for Status Offender; or 602 for Delinquency) which identifies the data in the JAIN.

   

XREF JAIN

The cross-reference JAIN. This JAIN is the OTHER JAIN. If this JAIN is 602, the XREF JAIN would contain the 300 data.

   

MO/YR

The month and year the Cross Reference were created

   

OPID

The initials of the operator who created the Cross Reference JAINs.

   

Case Transferred

The Probation office code which transferred the From case to the Active Office.

   

Date

Date of case transfer.

   

HISTORICAL CASE INFO:

 
   

Prior Office

The Probation or DCFS office code. DCFS office codes begin with "S" followed by four numbers. If the office code was unknown, the letter "P" or "PROB UNK" appears for the Probation office, and "D" or "DPSS UNK" for the DCFS office

   

CSLD#

Identifying number of the Probation Officer or Dependency Worker who had responsibility for the case.

   

PDJ Number

Probation Department's inactive juvenile case number. The same PDJ number may appear on Lines 6 and 13 due to Probation's policy of reactivating PDJ numbers (Since PDJ# 0690752).

   

Court Number

Juvenile Court inactive case number.

   

DCFS Number

State number for the whole family.

   

Action Date

The date of the action explained in Explanation. Historical information is ordered so that the most recent action date is first, proceeding to the oldest.

   

Explanation

Description of action taken. PINQ is also used miscellaneous Probation data; e.g., TO FILES.

There will be as many pages of Historical Case Information as needed to display the data. The message END OF AVAILABLE INFORMATION will appear on the last page of data. If alias data resides in the JAIN, Historical Case Information will be followed by the alias data.

Line 1 shows summary information used for verification: JAIN, Last Name, First Name, Middle Name, Sex, Descent and DOB.

   

AKA LAST

Alias last name. If MONIKER (Street name), actual street name appears.

   

AKA FIRST

Alias first name. If MONIKER (Street name), the literal 'MONIKER' appears as first name.

   

AKA MIDDLE

Alias middle name.

   

SF

Alias suffix.

   

TRUE

True name indicator. It is not used at this time.

There will be as many pages of alias information as are needed.
