FUNCTION: This transaction is used to update or delete arrest information already on file. A maximum of 8 arrest charges can be updated per transaction.
The JARU mask is displayed through two options:
A. Through the JAI MENU
B. Through the JAIN mask
The procedures for using the options are as follows:
A. Through the JAI MENU:
1. Key the transaction code JARU
2. Key the JAIN
3. Press the ENTER key
B. Through the JAIN mask:
1. When processing data for the same JAIN, key JARU in the lower right corner and press the ENTER key.
2. When processing data for a different JAIN, key the JAIN in the space shown on the screen, key JARU in the lower right corner and press the ENTER key.
There is no PF key for this transaction.
Always complete the JARU transaction by pressing the ENTER key, whether or not updates are made.
The first line contains the JAIN, name, sex, descent, and date of birth. The remainder of the screen contains arrest information currently on file.
User must verify that the JAIN and name are correct before making any changes. To change information, key the new data in the space below the current or blank data field. Only fields which are altered will be updated on the file.
To delete an arrest charge, key the word DELETE into the space directly below the charge field. All information for that charge will be deleted.
If the arrest data to be changed is not present on the screen, paging (PA1 Key or the Page Up Key) is used to request another screen containing additional arrests. The operator will continue this process until the desired arrest data is available for update. If changes are to be made on more than one JARU screen, each screen must be changed and entered individually.

Additional charges filed by the D.A. will appear as all 9's in the charge filed. If the arrest was received from the District Attorney the charges will appear as dummy `8's and if the Superior Court created the arrest, the charges will appear as dummy `7's.
Upon successful completion, a message will be returned on the JAIN mask indicating that the arrest data has been updated, or has been looked at with no updates.
At the time of the updating of this transaction, several types of "dummy charges" display in JARU.
1. The 9s series is created by Additional Charges Filed by the District Attorney. In this situation, the arresting agency entered an arrest, and the District Attorney filed an additional charge.
2. The 8s series is created by Charges Filed by the District Attorney. In this situation, the arrest from PIMS does match an arrest in JAI, and therefore the allegation data from PIMS creates the arrest, which is displayed in JARU as 8s.
3. The 7s series is created by the procedure of using the PAF flag on the Superior Court Menu. In this situation, the arrest does not exist in JAI and the Superior Court needs a CC02 to enter the petition allegations for reporting purposes. The PAF flag processing make the CC02 available, and the allegations created through this process display in JARU as 7s.
These "dummy charges" display in JARU only. Actual charges from the JAI Codes List display in JINQ, JPDD, JPDI, CC02, CC03, CC10 and CC11. Actual charges are also to be used for statistical reports.
