FUNCTION: This transaction is used to retrieve and display a wide variety of information for a juvenile. The data is presented in four parts:
1. Characteristics
2. Aliases and Monikers
3. Arrest and Disposition Information
4. Current Conditions of Probation
JINQ is displayed through five options:
A. Through the JAI MENU
B. Through the JAIN mask
C. Through JFIL
D. Through JNAM
E. Through JNUM
Following are the procedures for using the options.
A. Through the JAI MENU
1. Key the transaction code JINQ
2. Key the JAIN
3. Press the ENTER key
B. Through the JAIN mask
1. If processing data for same JAIN, press the PF6 key.
2. If processing data for a different JAIN, key the JAIN,
then press the PF6 key.
C. Through JFIL
1. Key an "X" in front of the selected JAIN
2. Press the ENTER key
D. Through JNAM
1. Key an "X" in front of the selected JAIN
2. Press the PF6 or F6 key
E. Through JNUM
1. Key the Number Type
2. Key the number being used for the search
3. Press the PF6 or F6 key
The response will be the JINQ characteristics screen. If there is more information available, a message at the bottom of the screen will indicate whether the information is alias, arrest/disposition, or conditions of probation data. The operator may then "page" through this data by pressing the PA1 key or the Page Up key until the message "End of Available Information" appears. At any time, the operator may press the ENTER key to display the JAIN mask without viewing all pages of JINQ.

A section of the Welfare & Institutions Code (300 for Dependency; 601 for Status Offender; or 602 for Delinquency), which identifies the data in the JAIN. | |
XREF JAIN |
Cross-reference JAIN. This JAIN is the OTHER JAIN. If this JAIN is 602, the XREF JAIN would contain the 300 data. | |
MO/YR |
The month and year the Cross Reference JAINs were created. | |
OPID |
The initials of the operator who created the Cross Reference JAINs. | |
LA# |
An ID number issued by LAPD indicating fingerprints. | |
COMMENTS |
A variety of miscellaneous remarks entered by any user. A frequently appearing comment is "*PI". This indicates there is no arrest information in the JAIN. | |
ACTIVE OFFICE |
Shows PROB (for Probation) or DCFS (for Department of Children's and Family Services) followed by the descriptive name of the office where the case is being handled. | |
ACTIVE PDJ# |
Probation Department's active juvenile case number. | |
ACTIVE COURT# |
Juvenile Court active case number, whether from Delinquency or Dependency court. | |
ACTIVE DCFS# |
State number for the whole family. | |
CASELOAD# |
Identifying number of the Probation Officer or Dependency Worker responsible for the case. | |
LEGAL STATUS |
A section of the Welfare and Institutions Code specifying jurisdiction. | |
PROB/DCS STATUS |
Supervision status of a juvenile case with the Probation Department or the Department of Public Social Services; this may also be the current court disposition. | |

The conditions are listed by number, followed by a descriptive narrative. A condition of probation is a legal restriction or requirement placed upon a juvenile or upon those responsible for the juvenile's actions. A juvenile may be arrested if in violation of a condition. |
A maximum of seven pages of Conditions of Probation will appear if all 39 standard conditions are ordered. The last page of information will contain the following message on the last line: "JAI037-*END OF AVAILABLE INFORMATION*".
