PDIQ

PUBLIC DEFENDER INQUIRY

FUNCTION:

This transaction is used to retrieve and display Public Defender information for a specified juvenile.

The PDIQ screen can be displayed through the Public Defender Menu:

1. Key the transaction code PDIQ.
2. Key the JAIN.
3. Key the COURT#.
4. Key the PETITION DATE
5. Press the ENTER key.

The response will be the PDIQ screen for the juvenile selected. Press the ENTER key to return to Public Defender Menu (PDMU). Upon successful completion of the transaction, a message will be returned to the screen indicating that the record had a successful inquiry.

PDIQ DATA ELEMENT Table

DATA ELEMENT NAME

EXPLANATION

   

JAIN

Juvenile Automated Index Number a unique identification number assigned to a juvenile upon entry into JAI.

   

NAME

Last, first and middle name of a juvenile.

   

SEX

Sex of the juvenile: M or F.

   

DESCENT

Descent code is an NCIC code.

   

DATE OF BIRTH

Juvenile date of birth MMDDYY.

   

COURT#

Juvenile Court case number assigned to the petition for this arrest.

   

PET DATE

Date the petition was filed by Superior Court clerk. The last position is optional which is used as a petition identifier when more than one petition is filed on the same date.

   

INACTIVE FILE #

The number(s) assigned to the case when it is closed by the Public Defender.

   

FUTURE COURT DATE

A maximum of three future court appearances display giving date court department and type of hearing.

   

ATTY#

California Bar Number or County Employee Number of the Attorney.

   

ATTY LOC

The office location of the attorney.

   

ASSIGNED RSN

Reason the attorney is assigned to the case.

   

ASSIGNED DATE

Month/Day/Year the Attorney is assigned to the case.

   

CLOSED RSN

A code that indicates the reason the Public Defender closed the case.

   

CLOSED DATE

Month/Day/Year the Public Defender is no longer assigned to the case.

   

ATTY#

California Bar Number or County Employee Number of the Attorney currently assigned to the case.

   

ATTORNEY ASSIGNED

The current or last know Public Defender assigned to the case.

   

CASE LOC

Case judicial district location for the case.

   

RVW RSN

The reason the case will be reviewed by the Deputy Public Defender.

   

RVW DATE

Month/Day/Year for the scheduled case review.

A maximum of three Deputy Public Defenders will be displayed on the Public Defender Inquiry (PDIQ) screen. The current or last known attorney will appear in the number one position of the PDIQ screen. The attorney information that appears in the number one position will also be displayed in the attorney assigned section. The number two and three positions on the screen will have the previous Deputy Public Defenders that were once assigned to the case.

When a Deputy Public Defender no longer represents a Juvenile the message NO LONGER A PUBLIC DEFENDER CASE or PUBLIC DEFENDER CASE IS CLOSED will display on the screen. The message REVIEW NEEDED INACTIVE PUBLIC DEFENDER CASE means the case is currently inactive but is scheduled for a review by the last known Deputy Public Defender.
